An Macron integrator partner had to provide a large scale cartesian gantry system with X-axis travel of 44 feet and Y-axis travel of 21 feet with a heavy payload capacity of 330 pounds. Whereas there was some deflection allowance in the Y-axis, the design would not allow the use of steel to cover the span. Due to overall system height constraints, creating an aluminum truss work to accommodate the span was a problem.
In 1999 Macron delivered its first large scale sorting gantry, capable of distributing totes to 1,700 individual compartments!
Macron 14 belt drive actuators provided the precision necessary for high duty cycle pick and place common in this high density storage system.
Macron stainless steel linear actuators are deployed in a pick and place system inside bacon packaging equipment. All bearings, seals, belt materials, design and construction are in compliance with FDA and USDA processes for wash-down rating.
