A client in the automotive industry sought an automated simulation system design to replicate the motion of a pedestrian crossing the street. The simulation system's purpose was to test automotive crash avoidance instrumentation which needs to be able to detect a human obstruction and avoid potential catastrophe. This is a perfect job for a crash test dummy, however, the dummy needed to move like a pedestrian.
A material handling system integrator required an economical solution for the vertical lift transfer of product carrying totes from one level of a horizontal conveyor to multiple option horizontal conveyors. The company had very little open floor space, so the system had to be created using mostly vertical space. Macron created a custom solution for this company’s inquiry including a custom MacBUILT actuator featuring a specialized length, custom carts, and a unique pulley system.

An inspection camera and lighting required a precise reciprocating tracking motion back and forth over a 2 meter length in less than 3 seconds. The ability to vary the speed of travel and control the position of the inspection camera while performing optical inspection was also needed during process development. The inspection module needed to be an add-on element to existing processing equipment. Structural beam strength, smooth motion, and independent "plug and play" controls were necessary.
A measuring sensor module required guidance and tracking over a long distance and at high speed rate. The sensor travel requirement was 36 meters at a speed of 50km/hr. At more than 118 feet, actuator length was quite long in this application but not a problem for the Macron 14. Macron designs are well suited for long distance automated motion requirements and environments.
This automated motion system was designed for use in the automotive industry for moving very heavy loads from one area to another during the manufacturing process. This wrap around cart, single axis linear actuator was designed for an automated bag sealing and cutting system for a client in the medical industry. Used to seal and cut IV medical bags, Macron engineers designed a wrap around cart in order to increase moment load capability of this actuator. The standard Macron 14 linear actuators are designed to handle loads up to 200 pounds, travel at speeds up to 160 mm/sec, and provide repeatability of +/-0.025mm.
