Macron Dynamics Inc. has announced the development of a product line featuring scalable, cost effective, single belt driven robotic gantries suitable for pick and place applications. “Macron has introduced a line of belt driven X/Z gantry systems with fixed motor mounting,” says Steve Evers, director of business development. “These gantry systems are perfect for pick and place processes requiring automated transfer of products from feed conveyors to final package assemblies,” he says.
Macron Dynamics Inc., a manufacturer of linear actuators, linear motion components, and custom automation systems offers a full line of customizable, aluminum machine frames for safety guarding and automation applications. Macron’s MacFRAME line of aluminum extrusions and hardware allows for customized, configurable framing architecture to support any of Macron’s linear actuators and belt drives.
Macron Dynamics Inc., a manufacturer of linear actuators, linear motion components, and custom mechanical motion systems, showed up prominently in New York City this past winter when their MacSTANDARD MSA-M6S linear actuators were used to power the robotic Pop-Tart® Varietizer in New York City’s Pop Tarts World™.
In this video, two MacBUILT dual independent belt drive units were piggybacked to provide actuation of 4 independently controlled carts. The carts were specifically modified for the application. This system was for a bottling line packaging operation where bottles were transferred and separated during the transfer process to provide programmable spacing or gap between products.
This application is a pick and place process for the automated transfer of a product from a feed conveyor to the final package assembly. The automated system utilizes a Macron TBG-12 X/Z gantry with a light duty single belt and a dual fixed motor multi-axis actuator.
The irregular work envelopes of traditional jointed articulating arms may require redesign of existing workspaces. SCARA and articulating arm robots might be the most recognizable form of robot on the market today but look to gantry robots for getting the big jobs done in the least amount of space. Gantry robots also called Cartesian robots are almost ubiquitous with automation but for reasons beyond the scope of this article here are not quick to be regarded as serious robots. Due to their simple design, low cost and scalability and the myriad of motor and control software solutions, this is changing.
This system was developed as a prototype to replace an existing pick and place automation system from a competitor. The pick and place system is used in the clothing manufacturing industry and is an integral part of the clients packaging automation.
Multiple Macron 6 belt driven linear actuators were used along with customized MacFRAME machinery framing.
This six (6) axis gantry system was designed to automate an industrial line using pick and place automation that moved two different items in two different locations (directions) at the same time.
The unique XX-YY-ZZ six axis orientation of this automated pick and place robot utilized Macron 14 linear actuators and MacFRAME extruded aluminum machinery framing….
This custom automated gantry system was developed for the pharmaceutical/medical industry and serves as an automated picking system used to fill drug prescriptions. The gantry system is used in an in-hospital pharmacy where single dose prescription filling is picked, packed, and bar coded for individual patients.
The automated prescription filling system was designed when the hospital…
