This custom automated gantry system was developed for the pharmaceutical/medical industry and serves as an automated picking system used to fill drug prescriptions. The gantry system is used in an in-hospital pharmacy where single dose prescription filling is picked, packed,  and bar coded for individual patients.

The automated prescription filling system was designed when the hospital sought an automated solution to reduce medication errors and increase productivity of the pharmacy. The system requires one person to input data into a program where as in the past, there were multiple individuals responsible for picking, placing and packaging the medicines by hand.
